About PHLEB
PHLEB Associated Advocates is a legal practice of advocates and legal consultants in Uganda. The law practice was established in 2015 and has a reputation for professionalism, integrity and expertise in the provision of a diverse range of legal services designed to meet the Clients needs, and exceed their expectations.
The Firm is currently a partnership of Karibwije Phillious and Naturinda Eliab. The firm however also has a network of expertise that allows the firm to offer its services to a diverse number of clients both locally and internationally.
The Firm has 2 main divisions. The Legal Practice Division undertakes legal work in both commercial law transactions, land transactions, corporate law, company secretarial services, intellectual property agents, litigation and general legal practice. The Consultancy Services Division specializes in legal consultancy work for government, the private sector, non-governmental organizations, development partners and other agencies. In addition, the Legal Practice Division undertakes general legal practice work including labour/employment law and other non-commercial law practice areas.
MANAGEMENT AND STAFF
The Firm is managed by Karibwije Phillious and Naturinda Eliab as the Chief Executive officer of the Firm. Overall practice management is headed by Naturinda Eliab. The Firm has 7 full time professional staff and 3 support staff.
OUR FEE STRUCTURE
- Level: We are flexible and reasonable in terms of fees charged for all of our services. The Firm offers competitive rates with significant discounts to corporate and other clients on retainer fee arrangements. Fee estimates can be negotiated and agreed in advance. All of our fees are in accordance with the prescribed scales under the Remuneration of Advocates Rules 1996 as amended.
- Fee Deposits: We require payment of fee deposits to cover upfront costs such as court filing fees, stamp duty, government registration charges and other out of pocket expenses. The amount of fee deposits required by us depends on the nature and complexity of the transaction or court case. An agreed deposit (usually 50% of the agreed fee) is negotiated in advance with a client and paid upon confirmation of instructions. The balance is billed upon completion of work or case.
PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY INSURANCE
We maintain professional indemnity insurance for all of our staff. This gives additional protection to clients.
